The annual meeting of the Parish Council followed, when Councillor Diana Tuson was unanimously re-elected as Chairman with Councillor John Kalaher continuing as Vice-chairman. Councillor Diane Thomas Foxley was re-elected Chairman of Planning. Members wished a speedy recovery to Councillor Peggy Jarman. Items discussed included the Seagrove Bay Modification Order and Members agreed to continue to support local residents with the application for the additional footpath. It was also agreed to continue with discussions with other East Wight Parishes with a view to the provision of a Community Bus Service. The refuse collection system continues to cause concern, particularly over the recent spate of bank holidays. It was, however, acknowledged, that an increase in recycling of waste is essential. It is hoped that the recent Isle of Wight Council consultation will result in an increase in the types and amount of waste recycled. It was unanimously agreed to submit objections to the proposals, by the Priory Bay Hotel, to erect a wedding pavilion and associated buildings in the woods at Priory Bay amid concerns about the effect these proposals would have on the woodland and onshore views. It was also agreed to object to the application for a street trading consent for The Duver during the summer period for several reasons including the adverse effect such an outlet would have on local businesses and the environment. The next meeting will take place on Monday 20th June in the Masonic Hall, Fairy Road, Seaview commencing at 7.00pm where, as always, everyone is welcome.
